1927 1ST EDITION of WINNIE THE POOH. The book was published in July 1927, just 9 months after the 1st Edition / 1st Printing, which was published October 14th 1926. It is referred to as the'Fourth Edition' by Methuen, but is in fact the 4th printing of the 1st Edition. It is bound in green cloth with gilt illustration of Christopher Robin and Winnie the Pooh to the front cover, and gilt title to the spine. The cloth is very clean with very minimal bumping to the corners and edges. The spine has suffered no fading, the gilt title is still as bright as the day it was published. The endpapers are beautifully illustrated with a map of the 100 acre wood, where you will find directions to Owl's House and Eeyore's Gloomy Place, absolutely exquisite and again very clean.

Within the book all the pages are remarkably bright with just a tiny bit of age related tanning and the odd grubby mark, but no foxing. Tanning to the front and rear endpapers, but to be fair it's extremely hard to find a an early copy of this book without tanning to the endpapers. Pages are gilt edged to the top, again lovely and bright. Two of the front endpapers have been pasted together, not really noticeable, but should be pointed out. All in all the book is in very good condition, extremely difficult to find such an early edition without significant damage.

A highly collectable book, the 1st Printing of the 1st Edition now commands very high prices, this 4th printing of the 1st is an affordable alternative for any fan of Winnie the Pooh.
