First Edition, First Printing, First State: Beautiful crisp near fine book with the scarce original first edition, first state dust jacket. The book is in extraordinary condition considering that many childrens book are usually found well loved and read. The book is clean beautiful condition with crisp green cloth boards, with bright unfaded gilt titles to spine and front. The book has sharp corners, and no edgewear. The binding is tight and square.

The end papers are clean and in perfect condition with no bookplates, no owner names, no bookstore stamps and no stains. Bright gilt to the top of the page block as issued. Beautiful clean, highly collectible example of this title. The scarce original dust jacket has benefited from very slight restoration by an expert paper conservator and as such presents as a near fine example. The jacket has strong vibrant colors with a slight touch of sunning to the spine, otherwise the jacket has no rips, no chips, no edgewear, no fading, and no rubbing.

The jacket is the first state of the first edition showing the requisite 117th thousand to first line of the rear inner flap and the 7/6 Net price to the spine. A beautiful example of this fragile dust jacket. A very handsome example of this title.
