The book is in extraordinary condition considering that many childrens book are usually found well loved and read. The book is clean beautiful condition with crisp green cloth boards, with bright unfaded gilt titles to spine and front.

The book has sharp corners and no edgewear. The binding is tight and square. The end papers are clean and in perfect condition being unusually fresh and bright for this title and with no bookplates, no owner names, no bookstore stamps and no stains.

Bright gilt to the top of the page block as issued. Beautiful clean, highly collectible example of this title. The scarce original first state dust jacket, with the 117th Thousand on the rear flap, has benefited from restoration to an intact tear to the front panel which ran along the blank space, and the the very outer tips of the spine ends. As such the dust jacket presents beautifully. The jacket has strong vibrant color with NO rips, no chips, no edgewear, no fading, and no rubbing. The jacket is the first state of the first edition showing the requisite 117th thousand to first line of the rear inner flap and the 7/6 Net price to the spine. A beautiful, bright example of this fragile dust jacket. A very handsome example of this title. Presents beautifully on the shelf. This book is part of a collection.
