Published by Methuen & Co. True 1st edition printing, with' First published in 1926' on the verso of the title page, with no other dates mentioned, therefore a true 1st. Also the beige endpapers are as called for, and were changed to green for the 2nd. The book is bound in green hardback boards, with 158 pages and gilt page edges to the top. Gilt vignette of Christopher Robin and Pooh on the front board, and gilt titles on the spine.

The top of the page edges is in gilt. The gilt is in excellent bright and unworn condition, just very slightly dulled on the spine. CONDITION : The book is in excellent condition. The binding is tight, with no loose or missing pages and the pages and illustrations are unmarked with no colouring -in or tears.

The endpapers are clean and unmarked. The hinges are tight and there are no gaps or pulling between the page gatherings, which is rare. The boards are extremely clean, just one or two tiny spots on the spine. There is a name and date, December 1926 on the first blank page, and a bookplate and names crossed out opposite the half title page (see photo).

There is slight bumping to the head and tail of the spine and corners. Other than the bookplate and names, the book is in remarkable condition. A lovely, rare copy, rarely seen in such good condition.

State copy, hard to find, with E. Shepard's wonderful illustrations in what is one of the most famous children's books ever written.
